this is probably an easy question, but i would like to be sure for my own ease of mind.
in order for me to stop i have to pump the brake pedal about two to three times (almost like i am building pressure).
when i am stopped, if i let off the brake pedal just a bit and then press it down lightly, the pedal goes right to the floor with no resistance.
i have checked vaccum lines - no leaks. Checked front brake calipers - no fluid leakage. Checked rear wheel cylinders - no fluid leakage.
does anyone know what this could be? i just spent 2 grand replacing the bearings in my transmission, so i am trying locate this problem at the source and not replace everything.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Aug-02 AT 12:55 PM (EST)]sounds like the master has gone bad. but first I would bleed the brakes. If there is no air in the lines and you have no visable leaks the replace the master
Make sure that the parking brake is not stuck and over heating the brake fluid (i just went through that on my isuzu)
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Aug-02 AT 06:48 PM (EST)]Just an Idea but have you looked at your rear adjusters they may be shot. I had this same thing happen o me on my 67 F-100 the pedal would go to the floor. Also try bleeding the system. Good Luck!
