I went ahead and purchased the glovebox light from Ford. After looking around, I cannot find where the wires are to plug into it. Did Ford eliminate the wires from the harness too? Do I have to run my own wires to get my $6.00 glovebox light to work? I was hoping I could just plug in to an existing plug.... Does anyone have any additional information to confirm whether there is a plug or not????
Your going to need a pigtail for it. I found one in an older 87-91 pickup. The underhood lamp is the same as a glove box light. If you search my posts you'll find we've been over this once before.

I tried to buy this assembly from my dealer parts department using some part numbers that were posted here. He said it was an obsolete part that couldn't be ordered anymore, and they didn't have anymore in stock. What part number(s) did you use?? I'd like to try again.
The part number I got for the glovebox light is: E7DZ-14413-A
Sometimes when ordering from online places, the spaces and dashes play a funny role.. Try it with/without them...
I ordered up mine through a online place called Directpartsconnection with a .com at the end... I checked a few other places and they SEEMED to be the cheapest on that part and among the others I oredered, most of which were on the list in the link above... I think another reason I went with them is that they had ALL the parts I wanted, which is important when ordering by mail...I think this is an actual dealership in AZ....Be careful if your considering the hood insulation... They have it at a good price, but shipping will put you overboard. Talk to them and they may work out a "package" deal....
(I have NO affiliation with them... I'm only trying to hold on to my $$$$)
Hope this helps...

Antacus is right. Pop out the mystery hook and you will find two wires for your cig lighter. Get a couple of wire taps and hook into those wire and with a spade connector on the light end and works great.
Crimsn Tide, I feel your pain. Traded my '98 Dodge Quad 4X4 for a new Super Duty SC, 4X4, XLT and, for almost $40,000. MSRP, no glovebox light?! Also, no visor light, no insulation on hood, no wheel well liners, no fog lights and no compass (all of which were standard on my mid-line Dodge).
On the other hand, I like the illuminated cruise-control selections when driving at night, the driver's side glove-box and really love the electronic combo-lock on the driver's door (though this last feature is an option). And who wouldn't be favorably impressed by that indispensable trash-bag holder? (Just kidding on that last one!).
