My front end is either not tracking right or something is loose.
I believe it's tracking, when driving the right wheel starts to track
left and right violently,of course the left along with it.I have replaced track arm bushing's,front and back, tie rod ends, ball joints, wheel bearings,"c" bushings etc.HELP!!
I have a '77 150 with almost 200,000 miles on it but I've never had a problem like yours. I'd start by resting the front axle on a pair of jack stands and have a pardner hold the steering wheel from moving. See if you can get either tire to "flop" back and forth. I've never been real impressed with the power steering gearbox in my truck, seems like your're driving on top of a basketball all the time, just not real positive control. If you don't have a steering stabilizer on you tie rod then install one, especially if you're running oversize tires. Hope this helps some.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Aug-02 AT 08:26 PM (EST)]check the pitman shaft at the steering box. they ride in a bushing up above the seals. if the bushing is worn, it will let the shaft flop around sideways and front to back causing the problem you describe.
