How do you clear an air bag code?

I have a '98 F150 with a 5.4 Liter. I had a problem with my aftermarket alarm due to a problem with the vehicle battery. I apparently turned the key on while the battery was too discharged. I have since replaced the battery, and got a 5-2 code. I tried disconnecting the battery for (10) minutes, but to no avail.

Can anyone tell me how to clear it without getting my head ripped off at the dealer?

Thanks

I found out that you cannot clear the codes right away unless you plug in some sort of tester and clear them out of memory. But I also found out if the system boots up 256 times with no more errors, it will clear the code by itself. So if you turn the key on 256 times, the light will go out by itself. Isn't technology great?

maybe you could try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, this is called recalibrating the computer in my neck of the woods, hopefully that will reset it and you wont have to turn the key 256 times....lol. its worth a try

Check for a blown F2 in the power distribution box (10A).

If it is blown, consult the service manual BEFORE replacing it, otherwise you may have safety problems.

(on edit) I should have read all the way through your post about disconnecting the batt.

Maybe you should ask a mechanic at the dealership
