No power 4th gear

No power 4th gear
86 f-150. stock. Carter feedback carb. The truck seems to run pretty good through the gears but when i shift into 4th gear it runs bad. The motor spark knocks real bad and it looses speed. What should i try? It has an egr valve and all the emmisions stuff.

Check to see if your spark advance is working... mine bogs down in O.D. but I've swapped the carb with a 2bbl and haven't changed the ignition yet so I have no advance right now. The engine runs fine, but power is pretty limited on the top end...and no passing power at all. Just an idea anyway, could be a lot of other things though.
