the dealer? from my experience most of the sensors I have to get from the dealer, or go to a junk yard and get a used one jus to test it. I think from this forum that those are rare to go out.
I have a 94 F150 and had the transmission rebuilt at 198,000. Ran great, then it started acting up. At 207,000 I took it back to the transmission shop where it was rebuilt, and he tested the truck with a scan tool and said the speed sensor code is showing. So I went to NAPA auto parts for the speed control sensor. They say it's in the differential. I'm getting conflicting information on this thread, or perhaps it's just different model trucks, but isn't it on the rear end at the top? Is it easy to replace?
Can anyone confrim what it's for? I heard it signals the transmission as to what gear the tranny is in? Why wouldn't the tranny know this already? Just a tad confused. The trans was acting erratic. At crusing speeds be it 40 or 50 w/ foot off gas pedal, then when I hit the gas I could feel the gear banging a little, but it should be a smooth transition. The motor is a 6 cylinder straight line; the transmission is automatic, and I'm a bit frazzled.
my 200 had to speed senors one for the ABS and it is located on the rear diff. the other one is on the transfer I beleive that is the one you need not hte abs one.
