Have any of you guys ever seen a hurricane move so slowly? I can imagine that this storm is not helping with the shipping lanes from Florida up through North Carolina. I just wish it would get some legs on and move a little bit quicker so we can get it over with. Need the rain from it, it'll save me from watering my yard
I love how this storm moves slow and it's constantly changing from tropical storm to hurricane. Now we're back to tropical storm, maybe it will find a way to become a nor'easter or something love the name game.
No matter what the storm hits the coast at, if it moves this slow it can do some serious flooding and damage. Hopefully it will pick up in speed once it hit the land.
I forget which storm it was last year, but it may have been Ivan that hit land, made its way up as a depression over land then a front caught a piece of it and shot it back south towards and into the GofM.
Weird stuff.
Oh, on the gobal warming front, a decent chunk of the nothern USA is getting frost warnings and heavy snow already. Montana, Maine, NH, Vermont....you name it. Just look at the NOAA page.
Does anyone remember which Hurricane hit the West coast of Florida above Tampa, but not into the Panhandle, about 3 to 5 years ago. A lot of flooding from the storm surge, and wind damage also. Work told me I needed to be ready to roll in 26 hours on that one, and never even heard of it before then. Was impressed the folks got no or late warnings on that one.
Long Island express part 2 ???? What if it comes straight up and hits New York City? If I had property any where along the Atlantic coastline I would be checking to make sure everything was tied down.
