Carpet for 1978 single cab

Anyone know where to get the original carpeting for a 1978 truck. I've seen the ones for sale on summit and other places but want the original. I don't realy like the type of material that comes on the newer vehicles. It seems to get worn spots on it easily like the one on my 02 super crew. Any info greatly appreciated.

Not sure of an actual distributor, but you can buy straight from Auto Custom Carpet, they are about the biggest manufacturer of resto carpets. http://accmats.com/ They should have the correct carpet for your truck.

I got mine from www.1aauto.com and I was pleased. Fit perfect and I bought extra stock to do the kick panels.

Ok, I've looked at several sites for info on the carpet but none list specific info on the ford type carpet. Is there a way to find out exactly what ford used in the 73 to 79 trucks? The vendors offer different options but I would like to get what ford installed on their vehicles. The 74 ford I have still has the original carpet (not in great shape) and I like the way it looks. It looks like it has long bristles about half inch long and would like to get something like that. Thanks for all the input guys.....

If you go to the 1aauto home page and click on the carpet page tab, down at the bottom you can click on view materials and colors. They have two types, 80/20 rayon/nylon blend loop and custom comfort. I went with the custom comfort because the color green I wanted did not come in 80/20. But the 80/20 in the pictures does look more like the original carpet that was in my truck. They will send you samples if you call and ask, it takes a couple weeks but it was a great help to me in choosing color. Good luck.
