Gosh I hope someone is up this late to read this. The people who fixed my 1990 Bronco today messed something up with the fuses and I left work to find that my dome lights are stuck in the perpetual on position. Thus, I will have no battery power left tomorrow. Can someone please tell me how to shut the power off from my car without unplugging the battery (if there is even a way), as I really need to use it tomorrow and the place that messed it up will be closed
Sadly enough, my car didn't come with an owners manual... So , the fuse box is the black "power distribution box" on the right hand side under the hood? I tried for the life of me to get it open and it wouldn't budge!! It said to press down on a tab, but the only tab I could see was in the front and it wasn't helping to press it down.. Do you know the trick? Also, doesn't the battery have to be disconnected before messing with the fuses? I would rather just shut off the power and have them deal with it, since it was their mistake, because what if I just mess it up even more? Is there a way to shut off the power that you know of?
I dont know how to shut the power off without pulling out a fues. you shouldnt have to disconect the battery to pull a fues out. maybe just pull the light out of the socket. it will still be getting power but it should still start in the morning.

I just checked the pdb and there was no fuse for the dome lights. There was one for "head lamps" but there wasn't even a fuse in its place. Man, this sucks!! I guess I am going to have to go buy a wrench. which side of the battery is negative, do you know?
well I cant find a diagram on the fuses, but I have never been good at that. I will keep trying and let you know if I find anything. here is a link to a site where you can order a new owners manual. http://www.books4cars.com/result4.ht...wner&Submit=Go
as far as witch side is negative it should be the side with the (-) on the battery =p if you have a test light you can use it to find out witch is ground. GL Scotty
the fuses shouldnt be in the engine compartment for the dome light, check inside the car under the steering wheel, and check first of all if the dome light is off. You can tell whick battery terminal to take off by looking where the cables go, the negative should run the the truck body somewhere, where it will be bolted to a peice of metal, which ever one that is take the other one off.

Thanks so much for your help, although the website you gave me is an empty link? I will look up books4cars on google though and see where it leads me In regards to the dome light, I just took your advice given about midway in our conversation and simply pulled the lights out of their sockets (WHICH was a bit tricky with the backlight, as it didn't want to come out of the ceiling, I had to pull it out- I hope it will go back in! Anyway, thanks for your help
