High Idle Kit for a 460??
Anyone know of a kit or an easy way to have a high idle option on my 97 F-250, 460ci 5spd? Often when i am setting up camp in the dark i have my aux flood lights on and my camper lit up, and i'd like an easy way to increse the idle to about 1200 rpm to get a bit more juice from the alternator.

I was kinda looking under the hood, and i noticed the iac, i pulled the connector off and the idle jumped right to 1200. The check engine light comes on, but once i reconnect it instatly goes off, could i just interupt the the signal to the iac with a switch? Basically duplicate removing the connector, or is this not a good way to do it?

Manual throttle cable will get the job done and cheaply. Anything else can be expensive. Our fire trucks and ambulance have automatic throttle systems for just this type of situation, but cheap isn't a word I would use for them. The IAC will work on some systems but not all as some go to the closed position when the connector is pulled.

I ran a couple wires to a switch on the dash that interupts the signal wire to the iac, i flip the switch, idle goes to approx 1300 rpm and holds steady. I flip the switch back and instantly have normal idle. Seems to work real nice and it cost me about $1.50(canadian
