I'm the lucky (I hope) reciepient of 11 gals. of bp Vanellus 15w-40 diesel engine oil. I've always used Chevron Delo 400 every 3k and never heard of Vanellus before. Is this oil OK? Thanks in advance, aloha.
I never heard of it either what does the oil meet or exceed spec's wise ?
You have to remember the PSDs use HUEI so good engine oil is a must you don't want a oil that will froth up like a milkshake. I would probably stick with the Delo 400 the free oil may seem like a good deal you never know about its quality. I the oil in sealed containers and how long has it sat ?
I just changed the oil in the 95 F-450 I just bought it had a FL-1995 filter on it but I didn't know what brand of oil it was etc so I changed the oil and filter and installed a fumoto valve. Like I already meantioned with the fuel system being oil dependant why mess around you don't want to end up with poor performance.
You never know what different brands of oil does when it gets mixed with other brands. If you have used Delo 400 for a long time its all through your engine so you change it out with this other stuff you never know.
Label says meets or exceeds:
1) API Service Catagories CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF/SL. 2) Cummins CES 20078,20076. 3) Detroit Diesel 4 stroke requirements. 4) Mack EO-M Plus. 5) Allison C-4. 6) Caterpillar requirements. 7) Navistar requirements. 8) Volvo VDS-2. Doesn't list International though. I thought that maybe me being "across the pond" was the reason I've never heard of this oil. But you guys never heard of it makes me real sketchy. Thanks for the replys, aloha.
