seatbelts?

anyone know if it is true that if your vehicle didn't come factory with seatbelts then you don't need them?...and also a 52 ford f-100 didn't come with them did it?

etnies13, I am going on the idea that if a vehicle did not have factory installed seatbelts then the law does not require them in Sask. Best to check with SGI. The earliest Ford that I know of with factory seat belts was my 1960 Ford Custom sedan, don`t believe that a 52 truck ever came with factory belts.

The '56 trucks were the first Ford truck to get optional seat belts.

True

That is true, if they were not there from factory then you do not need them. That applies to anywhere in Canada I think..

It's true, it grandfather's the seatbelt law. I believe in 66 seatbelts were standard equipment for a vehicle.

No I believe it was when they came out with the new body style in 67.
We have a 66 without belts.

It has been that if the vehicle was not installed with seatbelts from the manufactures, then your vehicle does not reqire to have them.
That new policy that preppy is asking about I do not know.
My 67 Econoline s did not have seat belts, the the 68's do.
Most trucks did not get seatbelts til 68, prior to that it was an option.
Now pertaining to rat rods and street rods, I think they now say they have to have seatbelts installed, because the car has been modified and is no longer factory.

Myabe thats what I was thinking of 66, when a guy modifies a old ride, then you have to get them.
