Hich mounted bumpers?

Hi all!

1) Being able to move my winch from car to car, or from front hich to rear hich, sounds attractive.

2) In spite of that, most folks always recomend bumper mounted winches.

How come? Whats the advantages of one over the other?

Thanks!

1. Just having the flexibility to move things around is always good.

2. If you only use the winch occasionally and it's mostly a DD, you can always take it off and keep it away from sticky fingered folks and out of the weather.

A frame mounted winch, or aftermarket bumper, is definitley stronger than a hitch mounted setup, especially in off angle pulls. There is a lot of stress put on one point with a hitch mounted setup, where a bumper or frame mounted setup puts the load across more points of the truck.

Here's what the receiver on the front of mine looks like. It's barely noticeable and can be used for things other than just a winch. I like things to have more than one use, so I tend to go with modular or moveable / removeable things vs. hard mounted.
