Question spout

i have a 1988 f-250 and was wondering if there is a spout connector i can't seem to find it.there is a single wire off where it plugs into dist.but is a dead end connector with a cap on the end.i don't see anything by coil.

i think the wire, with the cap, that you described is the spout connector.

Xltlariat87 is right. The SPark OUTput connector is the "cap" in the end of the wire. It is essentially a "jumper" connector. By removing the connector, the computer can no longer control timing advance, so it defaults to the base timing that you set by loosening and twisting the distributor.
