2002 250sd 5.4
I currently have a 98 Expy w/ the 4.6 L and looking to buy the 02 super duty. The truck has 4.10 w/ limited slip and 4x4. Any known problems with this model year. I will be towing a 5,500 lb camper but want a little room to go bigger, maybe 7,000lbs. I have looked around and can't find any V-10 that are not all beat up. Thanks for any thoughts.

I absolutley love mine. It is the same setup as you are looking for. Towing with the 5.4 isn't too bad..... until you hit the hills. Although when the truck kicks down, then down again, you can cruise the passes at 60 in second, but then the truck is running around 5000 RPM and isn't the best thing for it.
If you are going to to a lot of pulling, investigate a diesel.

I agree I have a 04 F250 5.4 with 3.73 I usually tow in the 7-8000 range and really do not mind it.. It does kick down like jokenring said, but it is not that bad... If you do tow alot, I would recommend the V10 or a diesel... there is much debate over this issue, but I tow maybe 2 -3 times per month... Only regretis I wish mine had 4.10 gears...they would give some more added grunt to the package..

Well I test drove the 5.4 and learned two things. First I love the feel of the truck but Second the 5.4 does not fit the bill for towing my camper. I hooked the camper up to the truck and it felt less powerful that my 96 chevy 5.7. So I am of tommorow to test a 2000 Ford 3/4 ton with the diseal. The truck is an ext cab, XLT with 63,000 miles and theri asking 17,900. I know next to nothing about diseal engines and would like to know if their is anything I can look for when test driving. Also what is the diffrence between the 6.0 and 7.3? Thanks.
