Looking to replace 390

Machine shop just pronounced the 290 in my '69 F250 4x4 highboy DED dead.

Looking for 390 or 426 crate motors that are built for towing and torque at relatively low rpm's. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ford called that the 428 actually it was 426.5, then of course the 427 is really a 424.96.

Sorry, about the 426, I was looking at so many crate engines online that the numbers were spinning around in my head.

I'm worried about has mileage with the 460. I've seen numbers on builds with a 390 that get great HP and FP numbers.

On a good day my 390 C6 will get 14 MPG. On a good day any 460 in a light truck will get 14 MPG. I expect my 66 F100 SWB 460 project to get around 14 MPG with a light foot on the accelerator and 3.00 gear
