Someone did a hit and run on my bumper! I just repainted the damn thing and someone hit it so hard on the corner they bent it!! My question is now how hard is it to bend it back, or is it even possible? Or is it hopeless and i should probaqbly just look for a new one? oh yeah, i have a 79 f100
I've seen guys use hammers, jacks, or come-alongs to straighten bumpers. Sometimes they straighten out, but most times they are still twisted or bowed a little. I'd look for a new one...
79,
Bumpers can be hammered out. The front is much easier than the back. A torch can help immensely. I usually lay mine out on a thick piece of concrete, heat them up, and hammer them out. This will ruin the chrome every time but, your painting. I wouldn't hesitate to fill it with dura-glass bondo and repaint.

you can maybe drill a few small holes and use a dent puller to pull the dent out, putty up the holes you drilled and repaint that area or just get a new bumper
my old 79 f150 had a bend on it and i couldnt get it out by putting it against the wall in my garage and going in reverse, alls i did was mess up my trim. anyway, a brand new crome one in jcwhitney is only $140.
8 pound sledge and a little venting of the frustrations of a long week went a long way to straighting my heavy duty rear bumper. Hell it was even kind of fun
thanks alot, i just didnt want to ruin it. i know the whole truck needs alot of work to restore it, i didnt want to add a new bumper to the list of things to replace. thanks again
I also have a rear step bumper. It has a slight twist on the left. I would think a sledgehammer would be an overkill...or is it? I was thinking of bending the brackets to straighten it. Would that work?
