...........99 PSD , 89,000 miles , new water pump and belt at 72,000 miles . Truck is in it's 7th. year and I'm still running the factory hoses . Was trying to get a feel for how long other PSD owners have kept their factory hoses before either a hose failed ...or...you just decided to replace the whole set all at once to avoid a hose failure on the side of the road , thanks , s.kuteman
Personally, I'd replace all the hoses. NAPA sells them.
Adds peace of mind, especially now that you seemed concerned enough to ask about it.
If you are so inclined, you can get the heavy duty hydraulic hoses to fit, perhaps even hoses with stainless steel braid. I plan to put SS braid on when I change 'em. Heck, I even have SS braid on my washing machine lines!!!
When you change 'em out, give your radiator a good chemical flush and refill with some of the good extended life coolant, maybe even put on coolant filter.
Hope this helps!

Just like an oil filter but different fluid. The coolant stays in the longest yet is the only large quantity fluid not filtered.
This link will explain it far better than I.
I got all mine at Napa, Changed everything out at 80k. Todo over again I think I would not get molded heater hose lines. Just use 3/4 and 5/8 heater hose. Cut the steal bands up at heater core slide hose off quick disconects and reinstall heater hose on them using screw clamps. I used a drummel tool to cut bands off. It took the local Napa a few trys to get the parts right so order befor you take apart to insure you have all the right parts. I also changed out the serpintine belt at same time. Old one looks OK, But for $45 it's not worth breaking down some where and having to pay a couple a hundred to get back on road again. I just threw the old one under seat for a spare.
I couldn't find the block drain plugs so just pulled block heater out and drained there. Someone around here my know where to find plugs. But at time I didn't know of this site. Also you might want to change out thermostat and upper housing at same time. Good luck.

Get the dual alternator version of the upper radiator hose, that way it will not go through your belts and will go around them. I can't remember the NAPA number for sure but I think it is 9066. I plan to change my hoses at 100k.
I got that hose also that was what came in mine. Napa tried to get me to take the one that goes thru the belts and that just looks wrong. Also don't forget to get your coolant addiative Napa has there own brand as well as the test strips. Fleet filter has it also it's like $8 a half gallon about 1/3 the cost of ford. And don't forget new clamps. Thought I could reuse those sgueeze claps again only to have a leak on lower radiator hose. So had to drain all again to change out.
Good Luck

...................Thanks guys , for all the info . I meant to go by Napa and see what it is going to cost me for all the new hoses , and I WIll order the over the alternator top hose . I just got thru looking at mine and it is a Thru the belt hose . The ford factory hoses seem to be fairly good quality as mine have lasted over seven years . Does anybody remember what the approximate cost IS to purchase new hoses . Of course , they ALways charge more cause it's a Diesel which really isn't right but what can we do ....thanks , sk
Seems like the dual alternator style upper hose was about $20. Replaced the stocker with it a couple of years ago when I did the thermostat. Bottom hose is original at 128,000 miles.
I think it was around 125 for upper, lower, degass lower, and 2 molded heater hoses.I didn't see the upper degas one, thoughtit was just an overflow. So figure anothe 15 for that one. Think the belt was around $45
the napa dual alt hose is #9066 paid 11.11 on 08/23/05. while you got it off replace the theromostat with a 203 degree one and a billet aluminum housing from dieselsite.com
I just did my upper & lower + heaters @ 90K miles...Upper was starting to seep a bit right @ the water pump. I used OEM Ford parts, but it sounds like I could have saved a few $ and went with the NAPA items...I'll go with the dual alternator hose next time...sounds like good advice...I should have asked first Thanks...
