Aw, poor Bambi... did you get to keep the meat ?
The closest I got to hitting a deer was with my '74 highboy... Darn big buck had already been creamed by something, musta been a semi because I didn't see no econo-box in the trees
I ran right over it... had to go home and wash underneath
I pulled over, pulled it off the road so no Hondas would go air-born, got back in the truck and left (this was before I had a cell phone).
Not counting two times in fog so bad I could hardly see the lines past the hood, had a huge buck run right in front of my headlights - scared the bejeezus out of me both times.
My friend, who has the worst luck in the world took out the whole side of his brand-new '94 t-bird after having it only a month.
Charlie, Sorry to hear about your mishap. It could have been a lot worse. The way those things jump you could have had it come through the windsheild. The deer we have on Vancouver Island are little guys and there are lots of them . We also have elk and a friend of mine hit one of them a couple years ago. He did a lot of damage to his car.
We have comprehensive insurance here that covers hitting wildlife. You pay 200 bucks deductable and Insurance pays the rest. Glad you were not hurt.
Had that happen to me on the Great WV Turnpike several months back.
Cruising in the company Taurus about 85 mph, saw something bounce off the front of an 18-wheeler I was passing and land in the road in front of me. I could not swerve to the right because of the big truck and the guardrail on the left did not look inviting. I ran straight over it. Thought I was goint to join BFR's Ranks, "AIRBORNE!"
The garage mechanic threw up just after racking the car the next morning. There was bambi's brother from the core support to the rear bumper. We dug a 8-point rack out of the area in front of the fuel tank. Dang car smelled like burnt bambi bar-b-q for a month.

I once got sideways on four lanes of interstate avoiding a big buck, then watched in slow motion in the mirror as an old 150 hit it head on right behind me. The deer and the front end of the truck exploded into pieces and a BIG dust cloud.
The strange thing was, the truck just kept on driving, even as it continued to shed debris along the highway! Either drunk or carrying contraband, I don't know, but I slowed in front of him annd turned on my flashers untill he finally pulled over.
Cap, sorry to hear about your baby. Not much you can do about deer. At least it wasn't one of the big guys.
I did the same with mine a while back going to work. The dear in Georgia ain't real large so it was kind of a mismatch. Especially with the big, angry bumper guard on the front, it didn't even leave a mark. I tagged him in the hind quarter and saw this brown tornado going off the side of the road and into the ditch. MP's had to shoot it.
i also had a bimmer tail gating me when i bammed it. i was watching the rear veiw as it came out from under me right at the bimmer . could have sworn i smeeled something right then and there. right at about the time a clould of brown was in the air.
i don't think that guy will draft or tail gate again for while.
worse part is this is the 3rd blue car/truck in a week from the group i work with that has been in a hit of some sort of wreak in 1 week. first my lead tech totals a customers r32 golf after being cut off by a ricer racing to a off ramp. then our parts driver gets hit head on by a 80 year ladie in a vw bettle and that truck "a blue one" is totaled and i mean this chevy is bent up big time, the frame is so bad the cab has a 12 inch gap shaped like a horse shoe between the cab and bed, and now my big blue.
men ford sure is built better.
well the chrome bumper bar is $375.00 list. plus right side mount bars and a fog lamp assembly and a plate braket comes to $600.00. with a 1k deductable.
yep seen a guy that had a set similar to that mounted on the under side of his rollbar in the bed he was bieng tailgated (or so he felt) so he flipped them on turned out to be an unmarked Iowa state trooper. I have no idea what the fine was but I saw the truck 2 days later and both of those lights were broken out. BTW I was the second vehicle behind him and it blinded me too, and I was probably 200ft back and definatly didn't appreciate it.
Poor Super Duty. I hope it will be alright? Here in Western Massachusetts deer have always been a problem. Now Moose are becoming to make there way here from New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. My mechanic at work rides a Harley. He loves to take off into Northern New England riding on weekends. He has had more than one run in with these 1000# monsters. Some guys get paranoid and wont ride the back roads at night.....especially in the spring and fall.
