one side of the plastic thing was broke on my '79 so i replaced it. it was still hard to get off of the speedo, but i just gave it a good hard pull and it finally came out. it's actually a good question because i thought i was doing something wrong also untill it finally came out. hope this helps.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Aug-02 AT 03:08 PM (EST)]wellllll!!!!! the reason it was so hard is because you were in fact doing it wrong! the cable end plastic clip is actually a spring! there is a locking tab that slips into a groove on the speedo head. to remove it you must push the plastic to one side to release the clip from the groove and then the cable slides right off. pulling hard will just break the clip off. to instal the cable you simply slide it on until it seats. hawkrod
How do i calibrate my speedo? I have a new tranny in the truck and i'm not certain of the rear, i think it's a 3.55. The dash is currently about 20% off on speed and mileage. Thanks for any help!
