O.K. Guys I have been reading a lot of older posts here and I have noticed that most (maybe all...I have looked at a lot of trucks) of the camper specials have been f250's. Was there ever a f100 camper special?
I have a 1970 f-100 that was special ordered by my Grandmother's brother. After a long journey though the family it ended up in my hands. My Grandfather has always called it a camper special, but I am not sure it really is. It has an automatic tranny, and a 360.
Thanks for any help. (I plan to get some pictures up soon.)
There are a great many posters here far more knowledgeable than I, but from what i have learned so far is that my '68 F250 Camper Special is an F250 3/4 ton truck body with a 1 ton frame and suspension.......
If the 70 is really a camper special, it will have a similar badge to the 67's, but it will be straight down on the fender, near the bottom. Also, it will have a harness either running up into the bed wall with a plug in inside the bed, or running to a plug mounted on the frame rail if it was ordered as a cab and chassis. It should also have the flex-o-matic springs in the rear, and a rather high GVW, probably around 6500 for an F100.
On edit, I just checked the pictures, and it's got the wrong mirrors for a factory camper special. It should have the large non-swing west coast mirrors, you have the junior west coasters.
You can get a build list from ford - just go to their website and ask - they will need your VIN. The build list will tell you what it left the factory with.
