Greetings all. My 79 f250 4X4with the 300 6 cly. Had been sitting out for a couple of years. It has seized up on me-meaning it will not tunn over, just a bump at a time. I've tried tp spin it with a breaker bar on the crank gear and nada. Since then i'ne put the ole marvel mystery oil and ATF in the cylindrers to soak. Any other suggestions? The engine ran fine before and has only 100k on it. Thanks in advance-Bundy
I have seen a dry starter drive hang up in flywheel, might be something to check.Marvel mystery oil in each cylinder thru plug holes & down carb throat has worked for me in the past. Also clutch can stick if it is manual shift.Good luck.Brian
Yep-it's a mm4 with granny low. How long would the marvel and the atf work? If i took the starter off and tried to rotate it by breaker bar, would this help? What if the clutch was stuck, woukd that keep it from turning oved ,even when in neutral???
Did the motor get wet while it was sitting, like for instance, getting rained on? Does the motor turn over, even just a little bit? Could you see rust in the cylinders? ATF and marval mystery oil's sucsess time all depends on how badly rusted the motor is. Did the motor run when it was parked (did it make it there under its own power in other words?) If the tranny is truely in neutral, the clutch being bad shouldnt prevent the motor from turning over. Did the motor "make" oil while it was sitting? If it did, chances are that maybe the cooling system leaked into the crank case, causing rust in the motor. Ya could try pulling the distributor, drain the old oil out, and put in 2-3 qts of MM oil or ATF, and prime the motor with it too. I dont know if it will help, but it will at least help spread some lube and make your life a seem little bit easier. If the motor turns a little bit, you will have to work it back and forth till it breaks free. BTW, if you have to do that much work to un- seize a motor, you might look into another motor. If all else fails, get a big, 3/4" drive or larger breaker bar. Chances are that you are screwed though.

Yeah Bundy, removing starter will eliminate that possibility, wait about a week,if nothing, you are SOL.Try the priming method also, but like Tony said if it is stuck good, find another.Brian
Well,i have soaked the cylinders with marvel mystery oil and ATF for 2 days. nothing.Starter moves it a little-about 1/2 an inch per jump then the starter gets hot. I tried to push it with my forklift while it was in gear and nothing but wheel hop. Could the clutch be stuck to the pressure plate? The truck has been sitting for 3 years outside. It was running perfect when parked. Someone said there is an inspection plate by the tranny and to take it off and try to break it over that way, opposed to on the front balancer/Help!!! How would i get the clutch un-stuck if thats it????
Clutch could be stuck but if tranny in neutral not the problem.I have also heard of pushing one fast then dump clutch or jam into gear.May be engine time.Brian
I was talking to some motor gurus at another site, they said to try using a Hi-torque starter to get it to move (I think tehy were kidding). Anyways, they said that if a motor is siezed like that, assuming you get it to turn freely, you still are going to break at least one ring trying.
