I have a 1988 F 150 two wheel drive truck. The last few days the truck stall while making a turn or stopping quickly. I don't know where to begin to look. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Unbolt it and unscrew the electrical connector. Now clean the non-electrical half with some carb cleaner. Also clean inside the throtle body.
High fuel pressure will cause a near-stall when turning the steering wheel and when you shift to reverse or to drive. Also, the idle is real rough and surges.
yes I am experienceing all of that.. Stalling or near stalling when I shift to reverse or drive... or turn the steering. I will clean my IAC valve.. maybe that will solve the problem?
I was going to say in my original post that it seems to be associated with left turns, but I thought you guys would think I was nuts. I will clean the IAC and see if that does the trick. I do have a question concerning one of the replies. I have had a surging idle for years and in one of the posts a dirty IAC was mentioned as a possible cause. Would a dirty IAC make cold starts especially the first start of the day difficult as well? Thanks for all the replies
I cleaned the IAC and tha fixed it. I do not have a check engine light on. The idle seems to be very low. Thats why I was wondering if it was the TPS. don't know of a way to adjust the idle. I would imagine it is a factory setting. I will check the fuel pressure to see what it is. The gas mileage seems fine. If anything I suspect it is running lean. On hard eceleration I hear a clattering noise. It isn't real loud or metallic but you can hear it. The noise is similar to that of a car that is diseling and won't shut off. Thanks again for all the help. The truck is not stalling anymore. I drove it today and it didn't stall once.
