I am considering replacing the automatic tranny on my '71 F-100. It currently has a 351W. I have a 3-speed OD which was connected to a newer 302. Will the 302 flywheel work on my 351?
the flywheel might bolt on, but you still shouldn't do it. The balance weights are different from your old 351 and the newer 302. You should use the 351s flywheel and then put in the new trans. If you have too, your 351's wheel could be drilled if the new torque converter's pattern doesn't fit. DF

Manual Trsansmissions have Flywheel's
Automatic Transmissions have Flexplate's
Which one are we actually talking about here?
