Unfortunately I'm trying to figure out the GVW for
this rig and the little paper on the driver lock side
is so badly faded the transmission, front axle, and
rear axle codes are illegible.
I'm ready to crawl around with a flashlight but
not sure where to look. Results for VIN#: F25YRL22984
Model Year: 71 Series: F250 - 4x2 Pickup Engine: 8 Cyl, 360ci, 2bbl Assembly Plant: San Jose Transmission: No code selected Front Axle: No code selected Rear Axle: No code selected
There should be a stamped aluminum tag riveted to the door itself, that has all that info on it. The paper tag is just the order info, as far as I know.
Looks like the previous owner switched out a manual
transmission for an automatic, and the front axle code
said "invalid" in the decoder, but I got what I needed.
The max GVW is right there. 6900.
I used the www.medicine decoder, and either it was way wrong or my tag has been swapped.
I have been trying to decode F10ADC71027 and can't seem to find a good online plate decoder.
I have a 1968 F100 and an looking for a good online site to decoder the door plate and VIN.
F10ADC71027
131 M F100 5 C 09
05000 121 3800 61
Thanks for any info.

F10 = F100 2WD, A= 6CYL 240 Cu In w/ 1V Carb, D= Assembled in Dallas Tx. The rest of the vin should be all numbers. Could the C possibly be a 6? the last 6 numbers are the assembly sequence. I don't have any info on the other tag. The above information came from the LMC Catalog.
OK Lets try this. see my next post.
131= Wheel base in inches., M is the paint code,(check out www.autocolorlibrary.com) F100=The Model, 5=body type, C=Trans type, 09= Rear end type, 05000= max gross vehicle weight in pounds, 121=Certified net horsepower, 3800 and 61 are Dealer Special Order DSO numbers. having to do with trim, hub caps, and interior etc. I don't have any idea where to find the interpretation of the trans and rear codes. You may have to get the tags off of the trans and rear for identification of those.
There are too many things that could been changed out in 40 years for it to mean anything today. I cringe when I see folks posting and asking those questions sometimes.
You have to deal with what is in the truck today. IMHO
John is right about that. Unless you got an original one owner, that is pretty much what you run into. My 70 model was like that, but it isn't any more.
The vin decoder on the link is way off on mine, I hope. I have a 68 F100 4x4 with the vin of f10acc80216. The coder tells me it's a 76 truck with a 460.
