More O2 Sensor Help

More O2 Sensor Help
OK, so after a great deal of work, not all productive, I finally get the downstream O2 sensor out and install the new "BOSCH PRIEMIUM OXYGEN SENSOR", only to find the wiring is about 2" short. It won't reach the coupling.
What to do now? I hate to splice wires as I think it creates a weak point that might fail sooner than later.
Should I return it? Is there another brand that has the proper wiring?
Has anyone else run into this?

I am thinking that it is one of three things.
1. Bosch put the wrong one in the box (hey could have bbeen boxed on a friday afternoon)
2. Kid at autozone grabbed the wrong one.
3. Kid looked up the wrong part #.
I would take your old one and new one back and see if you can match it to something else, or go to Ford tomorow and get the proper one.

While I wait for the van to cool off again!
Well, it seems that the only difference between the 15717 and the 15718 is the length of the harness. So I took the 17 back to one store, which was still out of stock on the 18, then treked off to the other store to pick up another 18.
At the store they blamed it all on Katrina.
Maybe I'm in business now.
