Went out to fire up the 86 E350 motorhome with 460 but wouldn't start. Checked around briefly and believe it has no spark. I think it has a duraspark(square box mounted on inner left fenderwell.) Can anyone tell me how to test the coil and the duraspark system,or direct me to a website that explains how. thanx in advance. wnk.
if you pull one of the spark plug wires (the end on the plug), and the plug out you can put the plug in the wire and ground it to the block ( just hold it again the metal). watch the tip of the plug and crank on the engine if you are getting spark you will see a small blue spark on the end of the plug. let me know what happens

It is a good idea to have a spare box anyway. In fact I usually mount a spare next to the "working" box. It is not a good idea to begin swaping out parts. Testing with a "known good" is acceptable but it is better to use a volt/ohm meter and measure whatever Ford says you should have. The problem could be as simple as a circuit breaker on the fuel pump or a blown fuse. I'd carry a spare box just for GP!
