Cheap Glasspacks?

A little while ago, me and a friend were talking and he said he heard of a shop in my area that will cut out my muffler and replace it with a glasspack for $60. sounds like a pretty good deal, right? the question i have though is, will i even get any tone/volume out of the glasspack if i keep the original exhaust on it? i dont really have the money to get duals, or the experience to make 'em. another buddy of mine has a camaro with a glasspack, cats, and duals and sounds monsterous. by the way, i have a 96 f250 with a 5.8 351. anyone have any advice for the newbie? thanks in advance.

I have a 96 f-150 with the 5.8, both cats are removed and have duels, but not true duels, with glasspacks and it sounds great, you wont get alot of sound out of your truck with both cats on it though, trial and error here, and got almost a 2mpg gain with removing both of them as well. 60.00 for a glasspack is rather high, you can get one off ebay for 19.00, best bet in my opinion, go with red hots or purple hornies... oh yea and for one of your questions, you will want to remove the factory muffler, or you will not get a sound any louder then stock... just replace the muffler with the glasspack and you will be in good shape.
