tach install

tach install
I have a 1990 Mini School Bus . can I install a tach from a gas engine on it? If So how do I do it since there is no coil?

Diesels ours anyway use a Hall effect pickup sensor, located on the timing gear cover. That is where the IP is installed. There may be a 1" sensor in the cover, if there is then a dash cluster change to one with a tach installed "may" be a possibility.
