Hey guys, Im on the forum for my Bro. Im gonna be here quite a bit for him when he has questions about his truck and what not. Hes got a 2004 Ranger Extended cab 4.0V6 Manual. Hes in the hospital right now after a bad accident. I wanna get him somethin cool for his truck. Im tryin to keep costs low around $100 probably. Except I have no idea what would be nice for a Ranger. Its stock right now the only thing he has in there is a CB radio. I know its kinda hard to find somethin for so cheap for so new a vehicle. Lets put it this way, if you had around $100 for somethin on your stock ranger what would you do with it. Thanks in advance.
A tornado would be a nice little add-on. They increase horsepower, torque, and fuel milage when installed and they go for around $60 to $70. It is relatively cheap and extreamly easy to install. A good site for these is truckperformance.com
If he doesn't have a/c, or if he smokes, those rain guards so you can open the window a bit in the rain without getting wet might be nice. I sure wish I had them, since it can get awful steamy in there on a hot, rainy day.
Good rubber floor mats are a good suggestion, as is a nice seat cover, esp. if it is important to him to keep his vehicle looking nice.
I disagree with you Dave. When I put the tornado on my ranger I gained fuel milage and horsepower. They don't work as well as they claim granted but they do work.
K&N air filter, bugsheild, rain deflectors. You could take it out and have it detailed for him or even just keep it clean for him while he is in the hospital.
Who suggested the tornado? If anything it blocks air flow sticking that into your intake. If you are gonna buy a tornado, send that $60 to me instead, because you are just throwing your money away buying that worthless junk. How much would it cost to do a sliding rear window? Thats a great idea...
Sorry, It was just an idea. I don't know what one would cost. I would imagine you could get aftermarket ones for much less than dealer supplied windows. Autoparts stores or the Internet would be a good place to start.
I like the rain guards, very useful, I have them on my 94 ranger. Good in Texas as I can leave the windows cracked a little so the heat doesn't build up too high inside without anyone noticing or rain getting in it it comes out of nowhere (and we Texans can vouch for it doing that occasionally).
I say spend the money to get his truck detailed, and if you're feeling good, an oil change and those rain guards. I can say it will be sudden here to if it starts to rain, we never even know till it starts to get wet.
