Help needed in Alaska

Hi everyone,
First off, I hope this is the right place to ask this question. If it is not please let me know and excuse the post. I'm new here, first post.

I have a 1989 f150 4x4 supercab long bed. Small V8 auto. 112000 mi. The problem is I came home from work one night turned off the truck and the next morrning it would not start. It turns over fine. I have lots of gas. I'm gettng gas but no spark. No spark at plugs, then tried for spark at the coil, still no spark. I went down and bought a new coil and it didn't help. Still no spark. Could anyone please tell me what my next step should be? What the problem could be? I'm not good working on trucks. As far as I got is as far as I know what to do.

Thanks everyone for you help and again if I did this wrong please forgive...

Dean

Welcome to FTE. I'm sure you'll get some help from the guys around here. YOu may want to post this in the F150 forum for more specific answers.

Do you have a volt meter? If so, see if you are even getting power to the coil. If not, you may be looking for a new computer. If it crapped out on you, it will turn over, get gas, but it will not fire anything.

my '90 302 wasn't starting either. was getting gas and turning over but no start. switched the ignition coil and nothing. put a new pickup coil (inside the distributor) and it started right up.

I would try the coil inside the dist that websthes mentioned.

Might also want to post this in the Alaska Section. Might get someone local that can give you a hand. Good Luck

Also try the TFI module, especially if the truck has been cutting out on you lately, or has majorly changed the way it behaves.
