Go for it, as long as the truck does not have any broken springs. I had 20 in my 75 with no problem. I would take the tailgate off to remove possibility of bending.
No problem --- if its really a camper special it ought to have overload springs too, as I recall.
I put 1200 lbs of flooring in the back of my F100 and it has a 240 I6. Was quite pleased how it felt out on the road. The C6 that you have will handle it.
Only thing I would worry about -- what are your brakes like? One tends to forget that part of the equation -- till its too late.
those ties wont be any problem.I ONCE HAD THREE TONS ON MY 65250 IT HAS OVERLOADS.THE TRUCK DID FINE 300 SIX AND 4 SPEED HANDLED IT GREATBUT STOPPING WAS ACHALLENGE .BUT I WAS YOUNGER AND ALITTLE DUMBER AT THE TIME.WOULD NOT TRY THAT MUCH WEIGHT AGAIN .
I used to own a 68 250 camper special with a 390 C6 disc brakes (wish I still had her) I have a picture of it loaded with plywood almost cab high and she was setting level. I also used to cut a lot of fire wood and you could not overload that truck.
I could haul anything with that truck.
So go for it.
I had 2 tons in my 1963 with a 223, 3speed. I know cause I was hauling cross tie ends that were sold by weight and my outgoing weight was 2 tons over the incoming! I will not try that again, I was fortunate in that I only had 3-4 miles to go. I have 6 ply tires and extra springs in the back btw.
Picked them up no problem.Actually rode a little better with the weight.Didn't hardly move the springs.Guess she is a camper special.Pics in my gallery.Thanx for the responces. This old girl is TOUGH!!!!

Since my truck is in pieces, I have a whole bunch of odd hauling jobs you are welcome to come and help with if you're just in the mood to test capacity!
