Starting yesterday, my passenger side front ESOF hub is intermitantly grinding. Vehicle speed does not matter and it does it going straight as well as when turning. Only periodically. When it hangs up while driving, I can feel the truck pull to the right and it makes a terrible grinding noise, kind of like brake rotors grinding. Brakes are almost new and the hub is hot, so I've narrowed it down to the hub.
My question is-Is fixing this as simple as swapping out the outer hub with Warn premiums or is there something else wrong????? Where is the best place to buy Warns????? How much $????
Thanks.

Unfortunately, you're looking at a very costly replacement of the front unit-hub bearing assembly. While easier to install on the assembly line, when it comes time to replace parts, the customer really takes it hard. You're looking at approximately $500 to get just the bearing assembly. If you can install it yourself, then you save a ton of labor cost, too. Warn locking hubs will not fix the problem, nor will any fit.
Assuming this is the hub main bearing-"the unservicable one" and I need to replace the entire hub assembly, do I need to remove the knuckle to replace the hub assembly or can I leave the knuckle and ball joints alone and just unbolt the hub assembly in place??? I replaced the BJ's and inner seals last winter. I hate to pop the BJ's-that would really suck!
Thanks.

I recently used (last week) the description put together by Racerguy above. Very useful in showing me what I was getting into. I did destroy two studs getting the hub out as it was rusted in there pretty good for a 2000 F250. Also the seal came out in two pieces. I could not find an aftermarket hub bearing so I paid about $ 630 Can through Ford. Ouch!
I found this thread in a searh because I have to replace the same thing - Not happy at all. I just need $40 worth of bearings and races but Napa has the assembly for $380eaMy question is do I need to do both sides? Man, I hope not!
