If you're going to get a filter base, E-mail me off-line. I bought a base and five filters last spring on eBay, just to get the filters.

To mail me, see springerpop [dot] net . At the bottom is an email link.

Hey Hello, Sorry about gettin of track on your Thread. Hey I was a Battery Mechanic for a couple years for LADWP (after an apprenticeship of 3) and their could be a couple things happening here, 1. yeah the heat is a factor. 2. just may have been a weaker battery to start. Could have had bad welds through the case, plates could have been cracked tons of stuff Battery could have been dropped before install. But the one good thing about rotating them every oil change or so is you'll clean the posts and can keep an eye on corrosion. The only bad thing I can see out of it is that you'll have to reset your clock and radio stations. In less you have a third battery any size 12 volt that you keep the circuit hot with. I have done it several times on mine and work trucks cause I'm to lazy to reset all the electronic stuff in truck.
Anyway good luck and hey Monterey Park Nice area I did take leave of absence from the SFV and lived in Baldwin Park for 3 years. Worked in Down town LA for several and my Grand Parents lived in Highland Park so know the area. Hey is the Hat still over there on Atlantic? Great Pastrami. Remember when it was just the 2 old ladies that owned it that served you.

Springerpop, it was marked by the utility company. But the line was 100 feet from where they said it was. Then to top that off, when they showed up to fix it they asked me to dig around the PVC conduit and I hit another 440 electric line that wasn't even supposed to be there.

I took my X ray glasses to work the next day so I could see the stuff they did not know was there.

Sounds like the guy that USAed it curbed it. I have done those for last 15 years for LADWP and they aren't that easy on Street light cics. cause if you do em in the daytime there is no load on the circuit so the indicator doesn't find it. You have to put load on, or a tone on the cable.
Went to a class on the latest $3500 locater we got and the salesman said never give a depth to anyone locate and make them pothole to find cable. Also you only have to be within 2 ft + or - by law.
Any way as long as no one got hurt that's all that matters. Hey did you pick up another job digging for the new run. Like what you said about the new NEC being as deep as you can dig with claw hammer.
And these kids now a days I KNOW the old journeymen would have never put up with their sh**. I went through 2 apprenticeships and in the old days you'd be kickin rocks down the road. If You Could Walk. But now day apprentices have "rights". The old days it was, "Yes Sir No Sir May I buy the Beer Sir."
Sorry I got started on this, now I'm Pi****. So better get going. But hey aren't you glad it's someone else's problem and not yours.

Hi Springerpop,
The public spokes person for DWP lives just 4 houses down from us.
I'm just glad there is a forum to learn about our trucks. This morining on the way to my shooting match, my X started to misfire and then suddenly the engine just quit. I coasted off the Fullerton Rd off ramp on the 60FWY and when I got to the end of the ramp that was it. It was the CPS and confirmed the code with my Predator. Called AAA and waited for the tow driver. Asked the guy to hook my tow hooks and pull me to the shopping mall. There I took out my blue tarp, work light, mechanics gloves, my 10mm wrench , screwdriver, and spare CPS. Changed it out and was on my way to my shootin match again. I was 1.5 hr late, but still got to finish the match. And on my way home picked up another spare CPS at NAPA. How about that!

Cool, Guess I ought to buy me a spare. To bad the tow driver took so long to get to you. What do they get for the CPS's at Napa? Heard it is better to get them at International over Ford about 1/2 price like 95 and 185.

Napa's regular price is $160, but with my AAA card the price is $147. The failed CPS is the OEM one with a flat rubber seal around it. The one from NAPA Echlin, has a O ring instead of the flat rubber seal around it. The NAPA stock number is CSS512 SENSOR CAPTEUR.
I know I paid too much for it twice now. Just hope it last as long as the OEM one. My X has 94,500 miles now.
Only trouble I had was removing the bolt with that little 10mm skinny wrench. I make a little cheater out of PCV that fits around the wrench today so will be easier to remove without gouging out my fingers. I had to double up my left mechanic glove to use it as a cushion so it wouldn't cut into my fingers. That metal piece on the CPS swivels up and I could push it back in the hole with it. But to remove it you need a screwdriver to gently pry it out.

I've got to make a run to Blythe tomorrow night to pick up a bunch of Springers that an Arizona cancer-ridden breeder just decided to give to rescue or else shoot. Got notice this morning. Since it'll be so hot, we're going in the evening and driving at night. We're borrowing a buddy's EX since we can A/C the whole volume instead of having them ride outside in the heat. The buddy with the EX hasn't a clue about his truck, and it's my first time to drive it. I know Ford maintains it, so that's not a good thing.

So, the purpose of this post is to THANK YOU for reminding me to grab my bag of tools and CPS out of my truck before I leave. You KNOW I'd be just frying if I was out around Desert Center and his went south, knowing I had mine at home. If I have to change it on the side of I-10 tomorrow night by flashlight, I'll look like a real hero to my wife and his wife, who are both going along. Ten minutes later, "Well, let's go again". Hope I remember to put it back behind my seat when I get back Monday AM.

Thanks again, Hello!

Hey good luck on your trip. Man Blythe even the name sounds bad. Atleast it's not as hot as it was a couple weeks ago. That's a pretty noble cause you guys do. Hey you can get fuel in Ehrenberg just accross the State line at Flying J it's listed for $3.039 but that might be the big truck price Az adds on to Diesel. Or Thousand Palms is $3.139. If you have one of thier cards they knock a penny a gallon off. Any way good luck.

New exchange point is Desert Center. Plenty of range for round-trip.

My truck bag is on the front porch so I remember to take the tools and CPS.

Hi Springerpop,
Have a safe trip. Hope you get good homes for the dogs. I've never owned a Springer Spaniel, but have owned plenty of other breeds, and a few muts from the pound. Too bad they got such a short life. Each and every dog was unique, and brought much companionship to my whole family. Currently I have a 2 dogs and a cat.

We will have no problems finding good homes. These are primarily 12-week-old bench-bred (show) puppies. We have more applications than we have dogs, usually. If you're interested in what we do, see:

battery problem

Well i am no pro, but here it goes, I do work alot with electronics and I do know that there is not enough "line lose" in the short cable between the two batteries to make the parallel cir. unbalenced, there for the draw on both batteries will be the same, and if not excat, mimimaly unbalanced. I would think that the insulation on the batteries may act as a heat insulation as well as insulation for the winter, sort of like a dogs coat, keet it cool and warm depending on the need. I bought the bigest Interstate battery that they had, I have alot of money in my truck and I want it to start and run like it should. I really have not knoledge about batteries and cheap ones may be ok, and as good as the 100 dollar ones, but I will say confidently you should change both out, If you dont then you do stand a chance of having a unbalanced cir.

My mechanic, one I actually trust, told me to change batteries every three years no matter what. He ruined the alternator on his PSD in his tow truck by letting both batteries go bad. I just had the passenger side battery go bad after one year with and he replaced it at no charge. I don't know what is correct, just thought I would pass this on.
