Stereo Static!?
1991 Ford Explorer EB...
I replaced the stereo a few months back and now get random static on FM. Music still comes in, but at times it has slight static. Anyone had this issue before? I've checked all the wiring, which is fine...now what?

Is the static really loud compared to the music, or light in the background?
If the static is loud, the antenna lead to the radio could have a dirty contact. Also, the antenna wire could be broken but mostly making contact. The static is when the wire ends rub, causing a resistance change.
If the static is light, you could have a spark plug wire failing. When the spark jumps across the open wire, it releases a burst of FM energy.
Also, the problem could be internal to the radio like a cold solder joint or failing capacitor. Heat usually causes the problem to increase.
