hey guys,
i've looked high and low and i can't find a blower for my Fe 390. I want a small one carb blower but i and willing to put a dual carb on her. I would also be open to a turbo or twin turbos. but under $3500. Help if you can't. Peace.
A roots style or twin screw blower would be preffered option, as you can mount the carbs before the blower to help atomize fuel better.
I would steer clear of turbos if I was in your situation.
As for options below $3500. I personally am not sure as to what there is out there.
Someone else may chime in with what is though.
For $3500 you can buy a complete kit from BDS (Blower Drive Service) and bolt a 6-71 right on your FE!! That's about the going rate. The price sheet I have is a couple years old now.
This will not include carbs, but most everything else.
I run a Blue Thunder blower manifold on my 390. I used mostly BDS accy's to put it all together(like linkage, fuel lines, gaskets). I had the 6-71 already so that was a major step forward.
BTW, if you plan on installing this in a '71 F100, then I would suggest going with either the little Holley 141 ci version or a Vortech. I doubt HOlley has a manifold for their little one for FE, but I bet you could buy a Vortech and "fab" anything you need to mount to front of motor. With my measurements, I found that a 6-71 will NOT fit in a '71. The height of blower/carb/air cleaner will not clear the firewall/cowl of these trucks(I have two of them and did some checking). The motor sits too far back. The little mini style would probably fit without issues, but without a manifold you're stuck. I'd go with Vortech.

Thanks for the info. I must confess that only half of me wants to go with a blower. The other half(the one with the wallet) would rather i just keep it naturally aspirated. If you have any tips for best parts(and order to install) that would help alot. Thanks again for the feedback.
