When I saw my Y was necked on both sides I got real serious about have a new custom Y made up. Three days later I had one made and installed. The truck now runs different...and better. Imagine that.
What year v10's are we talking about here. I have a new to me 2002 X with v-10 and I have info coming from Banks, but am not married to that idea. Still checking options.
My truck is a 2002. I am guessing by Monsta's sig that he is referring to his 2005, but I can't say for sure.
There has been a lot of discussion about the Banks kits lately. Do a search for Banks and start reading. Banks has some great stuff and it seems that the majority of those who have tried Banks really like it.
Thanks for the compliments. . .I think my pics are kinda tame, but then again I'm sick in the head.
Good to know about the flutter, I really like the way your exhaust guy fabbed up your y-pipe, looks nice. The guy I talked to today just wants to whack off the necked down area, and stick new pipe in there, but after seeing your pics, I want what you got!!
Dansv10 install does look good. I had mine done just a day or so ago and so far what a difference. I will let you now if it helped or hurt the mpg. But I don't know about yours but I have a FM40 and I was in for a suprise when I started it up and drove it off. What a sound change, I don't know if I like it or not but I have already been back to the shop with it and what they told me makes sense. I was complaing that it sounded like a hot Honda. He said so it sounds like a mazarati and I said yes kinda of and he said not 8 cylinders but 10 kinda like a v12 and I said yep I guess you are correct. Anyway it does sound much different and I don't know if I am going to try and change it or just live with it.
I have a 2000 V10 with the flutter, and need to do something quick. It is driving me nuts. Dan where are your pictures so I can get it to my exhaust guy?
I keep thinking the same thing but the muffler guys said that is how V10's sound and I could put a different FM on but it would only chang the pitch not the sound. I hope I find a fix soon. I have been driving it all day and it is not getting any easier to drive.

Well I drove about 100 miles today and checked the mileage. It was a light day no trailer and no hauling so I would normally get around 9-11mpg. I don't think my day was anything unsual, 60% city and 40% freeway. When I checked it I got 14.8mpg. Now I will say that when I drive it I am not using the throttle as much even though by the sound I want to but when I look down at speed there is no need and from what I can tell it has cut about 500 rpm off of engine at city/highway speeds. I will have to drive more to confirm this but for now I am very pleased with removing the factory Y pipe. If these figures hold I will get 100% return on investment in under 2000 miles. That is figured on gas being 3.00 per gallon, and I have paid more than that for the last few days.
