Don't know if we're allowed to tell about ebay auctions but theres a auction on there now (2 actually) for cps's. the first one is for 97-03 strokes they're 58 bucks and free shipping i think, brand new oem ones. the other is for up to 96 for 56 i think and i dont know about shipping.
Just wanted to let you guys know since thats cheap, i had just bought one the day before it was posted on ebay, i spent 105 at the international dealer. Dang it! I also bought a ICP sensor off the same guy it was only 51 bucks brand new. Guy has cheap prices. Not trying to sell for him just trying to help you guys out and get them cheap!
I look at those too and think about getting one. Question I have is do you think these are Chinese built copy-cat parts? The fact that they come in "Ford" packaging means nothing. It's hard to believe these parts are just overstock or such being liquidated at cost. Anybody have a history with these E-Bay parts?
I don't know but i e-mailed that guy and bought one he had but hadn't listed on ebay.
If it doesn't work i guess im out $60. Ill let you guys know if it works...
I saw these a couple weeks ago and the guy had ALOT of them for buynow at $69. The thing that spooked me away was no returns or refunds. I bought one from Ford for $90. I was telling the parts guy about this and he said the dealerships cost was $80. This stuff may have been snuck out the backdoor.
I got my ICP sensor from him today and it was the real ford packaging and it had ford part numbers stamped on the sensor. It worked too when i put it in the truck.
I'd have to say there would be a large lawsuit if there was a chinese copy cat using the offical ford parts package...then again they're probably made oversea's for ford anyway.
Thing that got me going on this was an article in Time magazine a few months back covering this very thing. Showed everything from Honda motorcycles to Nike footware to expensive watches being copy-catted to the extent that even parts interchanged with the real thing. The bitch was that large corporations invest large sums establishing a "Brand" and right away it gets copied and put on the market. Legal recourse was impossible (China is not the U.S. and its government winks and looks the other way) however sometimes these products get seized entering the country. And I'm not saying I wouldn't save a little money myself by buying a copy, but the article did point out that in many cases the product was inferior since the copy maufacturer doesn't have a stake in whether it's any good or not. This was another corporate complaint. Which is why I was interested if anyone had reliability info on these cheap ones. Did anybody else read this article? Maybe it was in Newsweek.
I have one in my truck now that I bought on E-Bay. I didn't pay too much below International price but it saved me a trip to Phoenix and the sales tax. Not having to make the trip is worth a lot to me. I think that if you buy N.I.B. International parts with the right part number you'll be OK. Their parts are Made in USA.
