Cab Swap Help!!!

help Ok, I've got some fun stuff going on. First this summer I went and got myself a Old rusted out ford to play in the mud with. The drivetrain is Perfict for me (F250 300 I6 w/ 4 speed and 4x4). Really I have no complants about this truck, But It is my daily driver. (people make fun of the rust holes) But I found out My uncle blew up his old 87 f250 2x4 with It's perfict body.

The only problem is it's a diesel. So what I'm going to do Is put his body on my frame I hope. The only major thing I can see wrong with that is firguring out the wiring and how to move the body onto the other frame. I think I might be able to borrow a rotory lift for a day or two. But just in case I can't how in the heck would a person get a cab in the air high enogh to clear the motor? As far as wiring goes I guess I'm asking is can I reuse the diesel wirng harness to get this motor running with the senders.

I've already gotten rid of the crummy computer controled carb. I just need the voids filled. I would like any help you can give me. thank you for reading tist all the way and please excuse my bad spelling.

I hope I'm in the right form.

Wiring harness not compatible. Use your existing wiring harness, or get a different/nicer one out of the junkyard.

Once you disconnect everything, lifting the cab isn't difficult.

You can lift the body off with an overhead crane, a winch over a rafter, etc. You can also jack it off the frame using a floor jack, and stacks of cinderblocks, doing each corner a few inches, and going to the next corner, and keep repeating that until it's way up in the air. Then put 4x4's underneath, and blocks under the edges, and pull the frame out from underneath the cab.

YOu probably could take the glass out of the rear window, make an extension for an engine crane, attach it to the factory mounting points *inside* the cab, and lift it up and off.

Thanx for the reply. I was looking throu the wireing diagram in a book and it looks like I could replace the instment cluster and have all my senders work. as far as distributers go I was thinking of getting one off a 70's model and useing along with the wiring and module. and getting it started is pretty easy.

I really don't want to replace the wiring harness If I don't have too. but If I do I have another diesel motor That i'll stick in this new truck insted. The only problem is that the motor is weak.
