Hi i instaled my diablo today and did not see much of a diffrence in performance. I instaled the 87 octaine tuner. I saw no low end improvements. just harder shift. my truck actualy shifts sooner like 4800 it use to be 5000. It pobably has better throttle response. My truck is a 2005 ford f150 with a 5.4. it is a a supercrew with 20 inch rims and toyo mud tires. please help. need better tune.
its because you are only using the 87 octane setting. as you said you do have better shifting and better therottle response. also to enhace it even more you might want to think about a air intake and an exhaust system. i have one installed on my 2002 F150 4.6L and it was like a night and day differnce for me. the truck runs alot better but i am also using the 93 octane setting.
The dealer I bought my Diablo from loaded the tune for me, based on the the 87 Octane. He chose Modify instead of Install. He turned off the speed limiter, the spark advance is -12 and -8, the Wide Open Throttle (WOT) is 140 across the board, and my fuel table is -24.5 for both. I do have a Mac Air intake and a Gibson single exhaust. It's a 5.4 V8. The biggest difference I noticed was a quicker response and a firmer shift. I set the truck back to Factory after getting work done. They reflashed the PCM and I had to update the tuner online, so my truck was without its tune for about two weeks and I did notice it was more sluggish at the throttle. Now it responds when I step on the gas.
I hope you can figure out a tune for your truck. I do use mid-grade gas in my truck because it knocked with the 87 in it.
How does everyone have the diablo tuner set????? How do i load the 93 octain one??? What is it under i see the 87 not the 93????
the diablo comes from the dealer with the 93 octane tune installed. you can get a tune for it to use 87 octane though. i am going to be selling me diablo predator tuner. i am going to trade in my 2002 f150 for a 2006 supercrew.
A questiom for those who have installed the Diablo tuner, does it help the passing gear. My only complaint at this point is the fatally slow passing gear at high speed. It seems to take forever to get the power to pass a car at highway speeds.

Off subject-I don't have a tuner but I installed the airaid jr cold air intake. It really helps in passing gear.
Read your book it is very self explanatory. I sell truck accessories and is the most adjustable tuner I am aware of, thats why I have it in my truck. I have the Diablo tune with a little timing backed out of it and I still run 87 or 89 octane. If you don't think it helps, take it back to stock and drive it and see what a dog it really is! I tell my customers that you will notice the loss of power more than an increase in power. I also have MAC air intake and exhaust and an Air Raid throttle body spacer and it runs very well. I intend to turbocharge it next!!!
