Are you talking about the rollover valve in the fuel tank vent? Or the rollover/crash valve that shuts off the fuel pump in newer vehicles. You definately don't have a valve that shuts off the fuel pump unless someone wired one in with a electric pump.
Do you have an in-cab tank? If so then no, If you've got a tank under then bed I doubt you have one unless someone put in a different (newer design) tank and added the vent/roll over assembly.
I have a "can" in the front of the truck that is connected to the gastank.
When I look at Autozone and Advanceauto, etc they want to know if it has a rollover valve. The pictures seem to show a hole right in the top center of the tank on the one "with rollover," and WO/rollover has no hole.
Is this where the can getrs hooked up to?
The gastanks.com site seems to call this the EEC; "evaporatiove emissions cannister" I gather?
Also, on the canister mine is hooked to the gastank, but now it seems that this lin is suppose to get hooked back into the engine somewhere? To the air cleaner perhaps???
roll it over and find out for sure LOL isnt the rollover valve and the anti sifining valve the same thing and couldnt he just shove a piece of tube or wire in there and see if it goes into the tank or get caught by the rollover valve

Thanks guys!
I'm wanting to think the "coffee can" is just a vaccum canister for reserves, do you have A/C? Usually if you have a vent line coming up from the tank, small vaccum line, it goes into a plastic container (beliver it's a charcoal canister) below the battery on the inner fender. It does have another vent line from that container to I belive it's either the carb or air cleaner.
I take it from your name your working on a 75? 150/250?? Crawl under the truck and feel up over the gas tank, might be able to see it with a flast light. Behind the sending unit is where the roll over valve will be if it's there. You might see the line coming back (if equiped) unless someone pulled it off. Most of the ones I've seen are steel along the frame and rubber from the rails to tank and canister.
These pickups are too old for a factory roll over valve in the fill hose. Your 'can' is a charcoal canister that the tank vents into for emissions purposes. There is a fitting on the top center of the tank that is piped to the charcoal canister. You want the tank with the hole in the top center - that's a 'vented' tank, their computer has the wrong wording.

Thanks!
And is there also suppose to be a line from the canister to the air cleaner????
The position of the fill tube tells you what tank you have two hoses go to the gas cap. The bigger one is the fill tube. If it is the closest to the rear of the vehicle you have the vent hole on top of the tank if it is in front of the smaller hose you do not have it. At least on the 1975 ford f100 ranger XLT I have.
Erietim I am sure Michael has if figure out by now, no worries, I am sure he appreciates the assistance. FYI his last FTE activity was 10-02-2016, so it looks like he is long gone from FTE.
That last reply to this thread was like over 16 years ago. ALWAYS check your beer born on date and always check the thread last activity date before you post. You are feeding a zombie thread....well so am I now. Welcome to FTE, no harm no foul.
Here is some info on the hole on top of some aft axle fuel tanks.
There are two differences between the tanks. Tanks with EEC have a hole in the top center of the tank. A rubber grommet and check valve are pressed into the hole. A line goes from the check valve along the inside of the passenger side frame rail to the engine compartment where it hooks up to a charcoal canister. Non-EEC tanks don't have this hole. The other difference is the nipple for the breather line that is located right next to the nipple for the filler hose is located 180 degrees opposite."
I posted it for anyone else going through it as I just did
And thank you for doing so. I have the same question as the OP. I just bought a new tank for my 1974 f100 302. I got W/ Rollover Valve option, this tank has a hole in the top.
I haven’t dropped the old tank yet - probably be doing this swap in the next couple weeks. Is there a valve or something that plugs into the hole? Or does it literally just stay open? I’d probably plug it if so cause there are some small holes here and there in my bed. Don’t want water, dirt, etc getting in.
