Crazy shocks
Went to put on some new shocks for my 73 f100 and it looks like a previous owner welded brackets on the fronts for different shocks. Why would someone do this and what should I do? I have no idea what will fit now.

get a cold chissle and snap off the bracket or cut it off then reinstall the right bracket and shock

I think what you really need to start with is a good picture of the suspension where the shock mounts. So you know what it looked like originally. Maybe a CD from this site of the factory manuals or a picture in some of the parts catalogs.
I did a complete front end rebuild and discovered that I had put the lower shock bracket on upside down!
DUH!
