Carrera GT

A buddy of mine boss just purchased a new Carrera GT.

I personally think it's OK, but I prefer a Ford GT and pocket the near $300,000. difference.

They perform about the same.

I guess I just like the older style of the Ford GT40.

Just an almost rant; that's all.

I would like to be that guys buddy as well. I have never seen a Carrera GT there are very few anywhere. I think the Carrera would be the better choice. Plus if you are spending that much on a car I don't think you would really care about the difference in price.

Now there's a go figure- 3/10ths of a second faster than a Ford GT in the 0-60, possibly a touch slower in top speed, and roughly three times the price. 4/10ths of a second faster than a 'Vette Z06 in the 0-60, and possibly slower as well, but over 6 times the price. We know one thing for sure- the guy didn't get his money with his shrewd shopping skills.

polarbear, actually from what I understand, he's a very shrewed businessman.

I think he's part owner of a capital venture company.

Like I said in my thread, I just like the Ford GT better overall.

hockeyfan4, He's not his buddy, but his boss.

I wouldn't mind having some of his money.

Found these specs interesting:

Ford GT******************Carrera GT
0-60 @ 3.3***************0-60 in 3.8
1/4 in 11.6 @ 128**********1/4 in 11.4 @ ???
Top Speed @ 205mph*******Top Speed @ 208mph

Like I said before, I'll take the GT, Ford GT that is.

Heck, why not both!

Drop kick the German iron, add a Z06, and we'll call it a deal.

Actually, Car and Driver had a great article in the newest issue- "Exposed, overpriced, overrated European Sports Cars." Fascinating stuff.

Overpriced?

That's an understatement.

I can't even imagine the cost of maintenence and insurance for the Carrera GT.

Of course, if one can afford that car, insurance is probably chump change to him.

He has his house for sale at 26 megs.

Anyone interested?

I'll have to check out that article on over priced euro-cars.

Actually, I have a few 'Vette owners out there that could afford a Carrera GT if they wanted. Not that that's the point- 'Vette owners and Porschephiles don't understand each other very well.
