I have a 92 F-350 with dual fuel tanks. I have to carry a 2 gallon gas can with me when I fuel up because when the fuel gets to the neck it foams up so bad it takes another 15 minutes to ease fuel it. It foams so bad that I can add 3 to 4 gallons when the pump clicks off. Is the vent stopped up or is this just the way it is? How can I get it to take fuel easier? Anybody? Thanks Fireman19
I pulled the filler neck out of mine and removed the vent tube inside the filler tube.
It takes fuel better now, but to get it all the way full still takes a little time. At least now it does not spit fuel at me when it is time for the pump to kick off automatically.
If you have a choice when you pull up to the pumps, always put the filler caps on the uphill side of the truck.
Diesel is bad about foaming as you fill up, I always use the slowest catch on the pump handle so it is not quite as bad.
The best thing to do is switch what station you use. diesel foam in part is created by worn fuel pumps the more hours on the pump the more foam. putting the fuel in slwoly does help some. I normmally fill one tank till it clicks start filling the other tank about halfway top off fthe first tank then go back to the second tank and just keep switching like that. I also put a flatbed on my truck and when i did so i made larger fill necks with more slope into the tank this helped the most of anything.
