Headers and exaust

Just a few quick questions. I've been thinking about putting headers and a diffrent exaust on my 79 f-150 4x4 460. I found a couple new headers on Broncograveyard.com for about 355$. One set has 2 inch primaries and the other are 1 7/8. I don't really know a lot about exaust so what would be my best bet. Also what would be the best size pipe to run. Currently the truck has 2 1/4 which I don't feel is enough. I was thinking 2 1/2 or 3". Not much has been done yet to the motor but I plan on putting a bigger cam, better intake and rebuilding the heads. Whats a good intake for a 460?????

Thanks all,

Josh

As to header primary size, do you tow with the truck? If you do the smaller tubes will help low end torque for towing. If you are into horsepower the the 2" tubes will be better. But be advised the street driving rarely requires be horsepower numbers, it's the torque curve that gives you acceleration and fuel economy. Horespower determines your top speed. I run a 3" system, but I got it cheap too. The 2 1/2 system would have be more than enough. make sure your cam, intake and head work are compatible.
