I have a 2001 Sport Trac, that is indicating lean o2 censors. So i replaced all censors, and still didnt fix it. So i exchanged all them under warranty, and it still does the same thing. Reset computer too. Now the engine pulses at idle. It sometimes idles under, and sometimes has trouble idling. The other day as i was stopping at a stop sign, The engine died. So i started it up, no big deal. Today i was slowing down to make a right turn, and as i started to try and turn, i noticed i had no power steering, and the engine had died. The engine slows a bit when brakes are used. Any ideas?
Ok i got under the hood again, and found a vacuum leak i didnt see before. There is a half inch (inside measure) elbow on the front right corner of the intake manifold that connects two lines that run around the manifold, that had a large crack in it. So i went all over town, and nobody carries the part, but ford does. The catch is they dont have just the elbow, i have to order the whole line that runs up the right side of the manifold. So a $2 part is gonna turn out costing $32. O well, gotta love ford right?
Have you tried a dealership? or maybe even a junkyard usually they have a few explorers in there and you can get the part if it don't look to bad. Just a thought.
Yeah the $32 price was the dealership. It actually turned out a little less than they had told me. It came out to $27 with tax. Took 2 hours to get from another dealer in another town. Installed in 5 min. Just took for a drive, and it idles better, and feels more powerful, and hopefully better mileage. Took a short trip on sat, and got 12.5 mpg on the highway. ouch! hopefully its better now. Thankfully gas here is still $2.33 a gallon. The junkyards down here, are short on explorer parts, and they usually arent that great especially after sitting in the sun, the rubber parts arent good at all.
we hit $3.00 some places more. But 90% of our fuel comes from the gulf coast. so some areas are running low and don't know when they will be getting more.
