well, today i took my mom to town for some stuff. i wanted to test out the new exhaust, see how it sounded driving. on the way home (about 14-15 miles) i reset the lieometer going up hill, it started at like 3.8 MPG because i was into the throttle. from then on out, i kept the rpm's under 2000. i was surprised, i saw the mileage rise dramatically. it maintained 23.2 MPG the whole way home! yes this was easy driving, normally how i drive though. mileage before the exhaust system was about 16.7, that is for the last tank. i didnt know that $450 could increase the mileage that much! inevitably, i know it will probably fall back down to around 18-19, but i just had to tell you guys this!
I've reset the lieometer (good name ) coasting downhill and made it max out at 99.9 MPG.
As long as your test is as least 10 miles long and you know how far off the normal reading is, it can be a good indication of things to come. So long as you know you are not going to see an actual 7 MPG improvement.
Nothing I've done has increased the milage enough to warrant it's cost. The problem is..all the mods I've done increase the power output, and I tend to use the power .
The fact that I drive it like I do and still get the same..or slightly better than stock milage speaks volumes for what it's capable of. My first tank of fuel through my truck brand new was 17.8, and my last fill @ 127,000+ miles and ~150 more HP was 18.1
I'm reasonably confidant that I could hit the magic 20.0 if I made it my primary mission, but some little ricer rod always seems to pull alongside before that happens.

Yeah how come you get 99.9 down hill and 8 up and it don't average out??? I noticed mines off by about 3 mpg. But atleast the wife seems happy with what the "lieometer" reads
I noticed that since I changed the Airfilter to the Kwick my Lieometer is up about 3 MPG. Even if it's the same mpg I'm happy sure runs a lot better. And less smoke. Don't need ol Mr Chp sticking his nose around underside and checking out the pipes.
