Break-in?
I was wondering how you guys would break in an engine when all of the components are new. if it was just rebuilt it would be easy but it has a new carb, igintion, cam ext.. and i heard if you don't break in properly, it could be hard on the valve train and bearings. (460) I'm not sure if all of the new components will work right with out the engine dieing and restarting while adjusting stuff. thanks for any help.
prime the motor (use a 5/16"-1/4" drive socket and a 12" extension, use a drill with a 1/2" chuck. turn it counter clockwise)
Set the timing on the dampner, compression stroke
put the dizzy in on the #1 cyl
crank er up.
If it wont start, try turning the dizzy about 5-10 degrees till it starts
once it starts, hold the throttle above 2000 rpms for about 10 minutes. Vary the motor speed about 3-400 rpms.
Do a search, you will find more information

Once that is done, just drive it normal for about 500 miles, but don't stay at a steady speed. The loading and unloading of the engine will help the rings seat better, Then change the oil and filter, to remove anything left in the block, then rock on. You are done.
