Rubber cab supports
I just bought a 78 f150 cab. I tried to remove the rubber cab supports from the frame. I could not remove them by hitting them with a hammer. After looking close at the tube that goes through the middle of mount, it looks as if it is flared open a little to hold mount on frame from factory. Anyone know how to remove them without destroying them? I would like to reuse them.

You will need to beat the snot out of the shells to get them to seperate. Maybe a slide hammer will work too, I dunno, worth a try. When I did mine, I tried burning the rubber out with a torch, and various beating/heating/cooling tricks. Ya know what finally worked?? The mexican crescent wrench (or hot wrench, or the blue tipped wrench for those of you who are more politically correct). I got so irritated, that I cut the shells out, and made my own from the leftovers, with some weldable steel from orchard (it's o.d. is the same i.d. as the bushings.) Good luck, you'll need it.
