Post Battery Cover/Shield

As a battery gets older the electrolyte usually has to be checked more often. The cables have to be removed in order to slide the cover out of the way and then the cell covers can be removed. Why does this cover have to be reinstalled as it makes a two minute job into something more time consuming.

I guess that is something Ford added for safety reasons. Batteries have been known to explode on several occasions. Some people do the leave the cover off.

It may be for cooling. Heat is the #1 enemy of batteries.

I have a Honda Accord my wife drives, and it does have a air duct that runs from the grille area and the outlet is pointed across the top of the battery. All manufacturers try to save a penny anywhere they can, so these covers and ducts must be important enough to justify the cost and trouble to install them.
